Parent Guide

Welcome! We have put together this parent guide to help you navigate your way through your child’s dance year. This guide will help you understand what is expected from the first class to the year end performance. We are always here for you and are so excited to welcome you into our dance family.

The vision of KV Dance Studio is to keep the dancer as the number one priority of the studio. From scheduling, to lesson planning to even the studio atmosphere, we want students and parents alike to feel that the studio space is their second home.

Talk to Us!

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child please don’t hesitate to address it with us by email or by booking an appointment outside regularly scheduled class hours. We are on a very tight schedule during teaching hours and therefore cannot discuss issues or concerns during that time. Please let us know if you or your child are experiencing anything that may affect their participation in class. It is our goal to work with you in any way to make the most of each class for you and your child. The more informed we are the more we can do to help your child learn. If your child is struggling with something in class such as participation, attitude , or other children, we will let you know. We are here to make this a positive experience, and with open communication we look forward to a wonderful year!

Stay informed

We want you to be informed as soon as possible on all the exciting news of KV Dance Studio! Therefore, we have implemented several communication initiatives to help ensure that you are well informed throughout the dance year.

Class Placement

Dancers are placed into groups based on ability, age and previous experience. We act in the best interest of our students and place them in a group that will allow them to benefit the most from each and every class. Students that are the same age may be placed in different classes based on their participation, attendance, progress, ability and consistency. This is our way of preventing students from having a bad experience by being in a class that may be too easy or too difficult for them. If an instructor sees that a student would benefit more from being placed in a different group, that student may be asked to switch after the dance year has begun. Please respect the instructor’s knowledge of where your child should be placed in each year of their dance training. Siblings are discouraged from being in the same class. In most cases, siblings tend to pay better attention, make more friends, and have a more valuable experience if they are in separate classes

Refund Policy

Any class that does not meet the minimum number of participants will be cancelled and a 100% refund will be given, with no administration fees levied. The instructor may choose to offer to run the class with lower numbers, however, participants may be asked to pay an additional fee. This fee will be determined by the director according to the amount needed to meet the class minimum. A 10% or $25, whichever is greater, cancellation fee will be levied on all student cancellations received up to 10 days prior to the start of classes unless accompanied by a medical certificate proving that the class participant has an illness or injury that prevents them from participation in the class. Refund requests made after classes begin will be subject to a 20% administration fee. CANCELLATIONS DUE TO EXTREME WEATHER OR LOCKDOWNS There will be no makeup class or refund should classes be cancelled due to weather or a city-wide lockdown which may put students and staff at risk.

First Day of Class

You should arrive 10-15 minutes early. Students should come dressed with hair tied back in accordance with proper dance attire. Make sure you use the bathroom prior to class. All outerwear must be stored in the cubbies provided or in their dance bags. KV Dance Studio is not responsible for any lost or stolen items, so please leave all valuables at home. All dancers are to remain outside the studio until they are invited in by their instructor. We strongly recommend for all dance shoes to be labeled, as many are forgotten at the studio. That way, we know who to return them to!
